Originally booked the room for my husband and myself but a change of plans meant taking our 16 year old daughter aswell. I phoned the hotel to ask if it was possible to put an extra bed in the room. I was told it was no problem, they would change the booking to a larger room and there would be no extra charge. On arrival we were amazed that we had been given such a huge room - everything about it was stunning - I wish my room at home was exactly like it! During our stay we used the leisure facilities and contrary to other reports we were told that it was not necessary to wear flip-flops although a swimming cap was compulsory in the swimming pool only - not the steam room, jacuzzi etc. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation in returning.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The entry into the hotel will take you back in time. It faces the harbor but is right in the town. The DART transportation system is a few blocks from the hotel. We took the DART to the center of Dublin in about 25-30 minutes. They have free underground parking at the hotel. We rented a car for the golf courses. Also, there is a bus service available to and from the airport. The hotel staff is very nice and accommodating. The hotel has a beautiful large reception area with very comfortable seating. It has a tea/coffee sitting area; lounge; and dining room. Breakfast is a little expensive. We had a traditional irish breakfast in town at the Hardy Cafe. Many famous people have been in this hotel. Danny Kaye, Frank Sintra, Laurel & Hardy and Queen Victoria are a few. The hotel has added to the original building. We stayed in the old part of the hotel. This was our 38th wedding anniversary and they upgraded our room even though the hotel was almost completely booked. There was a beautiful wedding during our stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

This is a great hotel if you're willing to stay outside the city. It's easy to get to Dublin via the DART train which is two blocks from the hotel. The rooms are lovely and very modern (think W). There are good food options in the hotel, but the choices aren't plentiful in the surrounding neighborhood. All in all, I would definitely stay there again.

The building was very impressive apart from the mock hedge which was the first thing that came in view from the side approach.. It's a shame that what used to be the main driveway is now just all overgrown looking like a dump. The hotel is in a lovely area, with shops and eating places all around and with easy access into Dublin and elswhere. We would have upgraded to a sea view if it had been possible. The first three nights we stayed there the view was over the rooftops to offices, the other three nights we stayed were overlooking the rooftops with the hills in the distance, which was better. Beds were lovely and comfortable. My sister & myself had a meal on two occasions (not breakfast, we gave that a miss) which was satisfactory (not full dinner) very quick in arriving and staff friendly which is more than I can say for the reception staff, I think they need a lesson in how to smile and interact with customers. If they would just even acknowledge that you are standing waiting would be something. The lift situation to the various floors is ok once you get used to it. Pity there was not a lift from our rooms straight down to leisure area. Hats and flip flops have to be worn, be careful, very slippery. All in all we would be happy to go back but it would be very nice if next time around to see welcoming faces.

We stayed here in July 09 to attend a wedding in Dublin. The hotel is very comfortable and much better than we were expecting. Huge room with good sized bathroom with walk inshower and separate bath. Dun Laoghaire does not have very much to offer but this hotel certainly makes up for it! If I was visiting Dublin again I would stay here and train into the city (only about 20 mins and 4 euros)

The hotel is a bit out of town but well worth the travel. Its very spacious and very comfortable and you can get a Dublin Bus rover ticket for just €6 a day which allows you to stop in town and then go to the hotel via the 46a bus. Prices in the hotel are what you would expect of a quality property but there are plenty of local bars, restuarnts and take-aways if you want to save a few €'s. The bar food is good and not that expensive €15 for a typical meal.

The Marine was a beautiful hotel! The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was incredibly comfortable with a fridge which came in very handy. The gym was well equipped and easy to use - I did not see any staff about but then I didn't go looking for them! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. My wife and I took a three day weekend trip to Dublin and stayed at the Royal Marine Hotel. We absolutely loved it and would return anytime. As we approached the hotel we were blown away by it's mansion-like appearance, and once we got inside we were very pleased by it's gorgeous layout. The Dun Laoghaire (pronounced Doon Leerie, FYI) area is aways away from City Center, but there is a DART station (above ground metro) just a couple blocks away. We had no maps of any kind and still had no problem locating the hotel, since there is a road sign right outside the DART station pointing towards it. The area itself is nice, with a great view of the water. If I had to register a complaint, it would be that the food at the hotel restaurants was expensive! No shocker there, it's Europe and a 4 star hotel, but we paid 38 euro for breakfast for two! That's pretty expensive for eggs, bacon, and OJ. But, if and when we return to Dublin, we will defiantly stay at the Royal Marine. We'll just eat elsewhere :P

The Royal Marine Hotel was very relaxing, with an ambience of tranquility and discretion which is the hallmark of a well run establishment. The staff were unobtrusive and attentive at the same time, which is difficult to achieve, particularly when an hotel is fully booked. A little bit of 'old world charm' with the necessary modernities, that is obviously proud of its' role in the history of the area.

Atsauksmi iesniedza: Dona no Corvallis, Jūl 10, 2009
The exterior of this hotel is beautiful, as are the public areas, but it does have some issues. First off, there is no doorman, and no automatic doors, so you have to struggle up stairs, open two doors yourself, all the while, wrestling with your luggage. I did book the least expensive room, and it was very small, although the bed was comfortable. The shower smaller than that of an interior cabin on a cruise ship, and no bathtub. The room also had what I consider to be some unnecessary annoyances. The ceiling lighting was set in such a manner that you couldn't see to adjust the thermostat control, operate the room safe, or see to put on make-up in the bathroom mirror. The soap tray in the shower was installed at an angle so that anything you placed on it fell to the floor. As for the maid service it was hit and miss, sometimes I would get a full compliment of towels, including wash cloths and a bath mat, and sometimes I wouldn't. Sometimes my trash would get emptied, sometimes it wouldn't. On one occasion, the maid left the rag they were using to clean with on my suitcase. Overall, I would recommend this hotel, provided you can get a good price for the room, because it is a good location, close to both bus stops (just make sure you get on the one going in the right direction), the train station, and the ferry station, and there is shopping located immediately adjacent to the hotel. It also affords a beautiful view of the coast. The public areas of this hotel definitely earn the 4 stars advertised on hotels.com, as for the rooms and service, I'm not sure I'd be that generous.

The swimming pool was great & we made use of the sauna & hydro pool too, the only annoying thing was that you have to wear a swimming cap & flip flops which wasn't mentioned on the website so we could have brought from home. They sell caps for €3 & we got cheap flip flops from Dunn's for €1.50! Food in Hardys bar was great & the best steak I've had in ages. Would book another stay without hesitation.

The Royal Marine is an alder resort hotel that has been recently renovated and extended. The hotel quality was excellent--beautiful surroundings, two fine restaurants (Dun Bistro and Hardy's Bar), a fabulous workout facility and spa, and a wonderful location. We chose the hotel when we were unable to find 12 consecutive nights at any hotel in the city. We discovered that staying at the Royal Marine is a great alternative. It is a five-minute walk to the DART (commuter train) and buses and simmilarly close to Dun Laoghaire's beautiful harbor. With respect to value, the hotel is in a different league than the city hotels--far less expensive and higher levels of comfort and quality all around.

The bus that brings you from the Dublin airport(the Patton Flyer) sold us return tickets, but on the day we needed to take the bus back to the airport the bus was too full so they left us there. They would not send another bus for the six of us, they just told us that another bus would come in an hour. Most people catching international flights don't have an extra hour. We ended up having to take a cab that cost an additional sixty euro. The bus company would not refund our money for the return tickets that we purchased.

This is a great hotel if you are traveling by car, since it has free parking (and parking is very expensive in Dublin). It is several miles from the city center, but it is very close to one of the train stations (walking distance). Expect to pay about 4.20 euros for a round trip ticket, but it beats the 3 euros per hour of parking. Advice. When arriving, park first in the underground garage (take your ticket with you and the the hotel will validate it) since there is an elevator from the parking to the lobby. The hotel looks very nice, and it has many amenities. The stay was very nice and the staff very accommodating.

We stayed at 3 other hotels/B&B's and this one was the best. I think we paid $75 per night. I mean even the Hilton wasn't this good and we paid twice as much to stay there! My only complaint was finding the place. But if you've driven in Dublin you know how hard it is to find anything there! This is a great location in Dublin; a few steps away is the DART station which we rode downtown. The room is incredible - large and with all the amenities you could want. We were on the ground floor, but didn't think too much of it. After a day out we were exhausted and headed to the restraunt in the hotel for a quick bite to eat. it was 9pm, so not late. The staff seemed plesant initially were uninterested and did the bear minimum as we were the only ones there. They started setting up for breakfast and chatted away loudly in the middle of the room, texting on mobiles and gossiping. The food was fine, but the desserts were appauling and were sent back. We were too exhausted to wait for 'new ones' and retired to bed. What they had failed to mention was there was a 21st birthday with several hundred teens screaming around over the hotel. Sleep was impossible and the fire alarm was set off at 1am.

The harbor is just a strol away and offers s great view of the Dublin bay. The slight downside of the hotel is that it is far from the center Temple Bar area. It is a bit of a hustle to take the Dart at night after a nice go at the bars. However, if you desire a bit more quiet and laidback place, you will do well to pick The Royal Marine.
